The Ontario government has announced an investment of more than $6.1 million to enhance health-care services and facilities in Northumberland-Peterborough South.
The funding, revealed by MPP David Piccini, includes contributions to Northumberland Hills Hospital, Campbellford Memorial Hospital, and the Community Health Centres of Northumberland.
Northumberland Hills Hospital will receive a total of $4,583,613 in funding.
This amount consists of $2,909,700 in extra base funding for 2026-27, which is a 3.1 percent increase compared to last year’s budget.
Additionally, the hospital is getting $1,284,713 from the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund for upgrades including the replacement of its cooling tower and $389,200 in Incremental Surgical Recovery Funding to support more surgical procedures.
Campbellford Memorial Hospital will be allocated $1,410,776.
This includes $1,116,700 in added base funding for 2026-27 along with $175,576 for infrastructure updates and $118,500 for increasing CT hours to boost diagnostic imaging capabilities.
The Community Health Centres of Northumberland are set to receive $189,070 through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund aimed at HVAC improvements.
According to the province’s announcement, these combined investments total $6,183,459 and will aid hospital operations as well as infrastructure enhancements and increased capacity for diagnostic imaging and surgical care.
Susan Walsh , CEO of Northumberland Hills Hospital , stated that this funding will address infrastructure needs and growing demands , particularly in surgical services.
Jeff Hohenkerk , CEO of Campbellford Memorial Hospital , mentioned that this investment will enhance clinical infrastructure while expanding CT capacity as they work towards establishing a new facility.
