Officers from Kawartha Lakes OPP are looking into a deadly crash that occurred on Highway 7 in Fowlers Corners, close to Peterborough. On April 29, 2026 at around 6:15 a. m., OPP officers responded to a collision between two vehicles, one being a pickup truck with a trailer and the other an SUV, on Highway 7, west of Emily Park Road. The driver and sole occupant of the SUV, a 57-year-old woman from Peterborough, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported for the driver or passenger in the pickup truck. The investigation is still active with help from OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionist. Highway 7 was closed in both directions between Frank Hill Road and Emily Park Road for several hours while emergency personnel and investigators worked at the site; it has now reopened.
