After taking a week off, the Late Model division at the home track is set to get back on track on Saturday, August 22nd at Peterborough Speedway. This isn’t just a one-time event; it marks the start of a three-week period that could greatly influence the race for the 2026 championship. The excitement of Hot August Nights Racing will culminate in the Championship Clash on Saturday, September 5th, presented by APC Auto Parts Centres.
Jassen Whyte from Codrington, ON is looking to make his mark during this three-race stretch as he currently sits just outside the top-10 in this year’s points standings. He has a chance to improve his finishing position and also impact the overall results by focusing on his own race in the team’s No. 55 car.
With experience racing both Bone Stock and Mini Stock cars-sometimes competing with both on the same night-Whyte first got involved in racing at just 8 years old. He spent summer nights helping as a tire pressure specialist for his uncle’s racecars, gaining skills that would shape his future in motorsports.
Now at 29, Whyte works as a delivery driver and has backing from NJ Bread Co. and K& K Kustoms for his regular ride. He’s eager about this series of events that will close out Peterborough Speedway’s Late Model schedule for 2026. Family members, friends, and fans can follow along with the team either at the track or via @55Racing on Facebook.
The schedule for Saturday, August 22nd at Peterborough also includes a thrilling 50-lap Shootout for local Bone Stock drivers alongside Super Stocks and competitors from the Ontario Legend Car Series, with Kid’s Bike Races during intermission. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p. m., with racing kicking off under the Great Canadian RV green flag at 6:00.
