Officers from the Peterborough County OPP have made an arrest after discovering stolen vehicles at a body shop in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township.
On February 28, 2026, Peterborough County OPP received a tip about the possible whereabouts of a vehicle reported stolen. Officers went to check out the business located on Highway 7.
The next day, March 1, 2026, members of the OPP Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit executed a warrant at that location. Upon entering the shop, they found the stolen vehicle along with another one taken from a different area. Both vehicles were seized.
While searching the premises, officers also found paperwork linked to another stolen vehicle and various car parts believed to be from other thefts, which were confiscated as well.
The owner of the unit arrived at the scene and was taken into custody.
Zirak Jaafar (age 41) from Otonabee-South Monaghan Township was arrested and charged with;
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
The accused was released and is set to appear in court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on a future date.
