Matthew Rae, the MPP for Perth-Wellington, has revealed that over $1.3 million will be allocated to two local public health units.

A press release from Rae’s office indicates that Huron Perth Public Health and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health will share this funding, which “supports local public health initiatives and service delivery priorities.”

According to Rae’s announcement, this funding aims to “strengthen public health to improve capacity, stability, and sustainability in the sector and deliver more equitable health outcomes for Ontarians.”

Huron Perth Public Health is set to receive $488,400 while Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health will get $884,206.

This funding is part of a broader $60.09 million investment designated as additional one-time funding for Public Health Units throughout Ontario by the Ministry of Health.

“Public Health Units play a vital role in protecting our rural communities,” said MPP Rae. “This investment supports prevention, preparedness, and the frontline services families depend on every day.”
