The LA Kings have announced today that they’ve acquired forward Jan Jeník from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for defenseman Samuel Bolduc.
Jeník, who is 25 years old, has played 41 games in the AHL this season with the Belleville Senators, where he collected 17 points (9G, 8A). He was originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the third round of the 2018 NHL Draft, being picked 65th overall. He spent four seasons with their organization from 2020-24 and racked up a total of 120 points (46G, 74A) in 165 AHL games with Tucson while also playing in 22 NHL games with Arizona and earning six points (4G, 2A). During the last season, he saw action in two NHL games with Ottawa while scoring 29 points (12G, 17A) across 52 AHL games with Belleville.
Before turning professional, this Nymburk native from Czechia played two seasons in the OHL between 2018-20 with the Hamilton Bulldogs. There he accumulated a total of 86 points (35G, 51A) over just 54 games. Additionally, he represented Czechia at both the U-20 World Junior Championships in 2019 and again in 2020.
Bolduc is also aged at 25 and has tallied a total of 21 points (5G, 16A) in his time on ice for Ontario this season after spending parts of five seasons playing in the AHL for both the Bridgeport Islanders and New York Islanders of the NHL. Over his career spanning across those leagues including a total of 267 AHL games played, he’s registered an impressive tally of 113 points (33G, 80A), alongside eight points (4G, 4A) recorded over 52 career NHL appearances. He was selected by the Islanders during the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft at position number 57 overall.
Prior to starting his professional career, Bolduc played parts of five seasons within the QMJHL representing teams like Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (2016-20) as well as Sherbrooke Phoenix (2019-20), amassing a total of 94 points (22G, 72A) across his career which consisted of just about 189 games.
