On Sunday, six individuals, including a baby, were hospitalized in southern Ontario after an SUV crashed into a GO Transit bus.

According to Niagara Regional Police, the accident took place in the north end of St. Catharines near North Service Road and YMCA Drive, just off the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) highway.

A Honda CRV driving north struck a GO bus heading south.

Police reported that there were 18 passengers on board the bus. Of those, six people – five passengers and the bus driver – were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities indicated that a 56-year-old man from Omemee, Ont., is facing impaired driving charges and has had his driver’s licence temporarily suspended.

The man has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
