On Wednesday, various areas of eastern Ontario and western Quebec saw temperatures exceed 20 C, setting new daily records and providing what might be a last taste of warmth before the cooler weather arrives.
According to early reports from Environment Canada, new heat records were established by noon in places like Brockville, Kemptville, Maniwaki, Ottawa, and Trenton.
Kemptville shared the title for the warmest spot in Ontario with a high of 22.4 C. Typically, the average high for November 4 is around 8 C.
The forecast indicates above-normal temperatures will continue throughout the week, but we could see a shift back to more typical conditions next week.
This year is marked by El Niño, which involves warming in part of the central Pacific Ocean that affects global weather patterns and is further intensified by climate change.
Usually, this impact isn’t felt in Canada until late December.
