Durham police report that a man has died after being stabbed multiple times in Oshawa on Tuesday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Park Road S. and John Street around 4:15 a. m., as stated by the Durham Regional Police Service in a message to CBC Toronto.

The man was discovered outside on Park Road S., suffering from several stab wounds, according to Durham police.

In a social media update, Durham police mentioned that he was taken to a trauma center in Toronto where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities Seek Information from the Public

Park Road S. is currently closed between King Street and John Street while an investigation is underway and will remain shut for several hours. Durham police have indicated there’s a strong police presence in the area.

During a news briefing on Tuesday morning, Durham police Sgt. Joanne Mc Cabe said that the man was found on the street. She added that they do not have any details about the suspect at this time.

“We’re obviously trying to determine who was responsible, and that’s going to be the top priority right now,” Mc Cabe said.

She noted that a nearby home is thought to be linked to the incident, but that connection is still part of their ongoing investigation.

“Anyone with information is again asked to contact the homicide units,” Mc Cabe said. “Our officers are canvassing in the area. We are requesting you approach one of those officers and provide them with any information you may have.”

‘It’s becoming more unsettling,’ says local resident

Cheri Bradbury, who lives on the street, shared that she woke up to loud banging on her door along with police officers and search dogs moving through her neighborhood.

“Doesn’t make you love the area,” she remarked. “It’s getting more uncomfortable, for sure.”

Bradbury mentioned she’s never seen signs of trouble from the house believed connected to this incident, but other events in recent years have made her uneasy.

“There’s been some bad stuff [in the area],” she stated. “I always have extra locks and stuff on the doors. My landlord has CCTV, so I’m comfortable that way.”
