High-Risk Offender Released in Oshawa

High-Risk Offender Released in Oshawa
Community Safety Alert issued for 'high-risk offender' released in Oshawa, Ontario

Durham Regional Police are alerting the community about a high-risk offender who has been released after serving a life sentence for murder.

Darren Scott Ray, 65, has a serious criminal history that includes first-degree murder, and police warn he poses a “significant risk” to the public.

He is described as male, Indigenous, 5’9″ tall, and weighs around 200 pounds with an average build. He is bald and wears glasses.

Durham Police will keep monitoring Ray’s location and activities. He must adhere to Unescorted Temporary Absence conditions which include:

Travel directly to your destination as specified in your permit, report to your parole supervisor as directed by the releasing authority, and follow the approved release plan. Not own or possess any weapon as defined in section 2 of the Criminal Code unless authorized by your parole supervisor. Stay within Durham Region boundaries as allowed by your parole supervisor. Not consume, purchase or possess alcohol. Not be around any children under 18 unless accompanied by an approved adult who knows your criminal history and has received written consent from your parole supervisor. Avoid associating or communicating with anyone you suspect is involved in criminal activities. Report all sexual and non-sexual relationships along with any changes regarding those relationships to your parole supervisor immediately. This includes attempts to start such relationships. Disclose all friendships or relationships where there are parental responsibilities for children under 18 years old.
