William Blackmer Canada OBITUARY
William Blackmer Canada, who was born on November 8, 1939, in Tulsa, OK, passed away on November 3 after fighting prostate cancer. He went to school in Tulsa and Downey, CA, and earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Bill served as an Army officer before starting a long career as a pilot with American Airlines, where he retired as Captain in 1999. Avidly interested in sailing and skiing, Bill met his wife Chris at the Corinthian Yacht Club, where he held the position of Commodore. He later became involved with the St. Francis Yacht Club and volunteered for race committees. After years of competitive sailing, he bought a motor yacht named “Jazz,” which allowed him to spend enjoyable summers with family and friends at Tinsley Island. Bill was also passionate about music; he formed a rock band and created the jazz quartet “The Bill Canada Jazz Experience.” He is survived by his wife Chris and son Rusty, who will hold onto his memory. A celebration of his life is planned for the spring.Source link
