Wayne Faulconer, 78, from Thunder Bay, Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on December 28, 2025.
Born on May 12, 1947, in Keewatin, Ontario, Wayne grew up in a family that loved music. With fiddlers around him and lively family jam sessions, he developed a deep passion for music early on. He formed his own bands and became part of the vibrant Winnipeg music scene while touring across Canada.
Eventually, he moved to Thunder Bay where he had a successful performing career with groups like the Jarvis Street Review, Stoneridge, and the Wayne Faulconer Band. His song “Sweet Eyed Satin Lady” received a nomination for Canadian Country Music Awards in 1981 for Outstanding Vocal Performance and Single of The Year. In 1982 Wayne’s band Stone Ridge was nominated for Canadian Country Group of the year. He was well-respected as a musician and as an elder in the Thunder Bay music community.
Apart from his musical achievements, Wayne was also skilled as an electrician, alarm-system specialist, and sound technician. He spent many years at Miskelly’s Electronics before starting his own company called W. F. Comspec.
He is survived by his daughter Casandra Faulconer along with other family members and many friends who will miss him dearly.
Information regarding a memorial service will be shared once details are confirmed; it is expected to take place in February.
Memorial donations to the Northern Cardiac Fund at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital would be appreciated.
