With heavy hearts, we share the news of Ruth Darleen Cox’s passing. She left us peacefully on June 28, 2026, in Bracebridge, Ontario, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 14, 1938, in Woodville, Ontario, Ruth’s life was full of faith, kindness, and love for her family. She has gone home to be with her Lord and Saviour.
Ruth was a devoted mother to Paulette Wyville (David), Karen Park (Allan), and Bill Cox (Karen). She was a beloved grandmother to Jeremey, Melissa, Amanda, Richard, Graham, Julie, Nathan, and Rachel. Additionally, she took great pride in being a great-grandmother to Landen, Grace, Chloe, Brayden, Asher, Oliver, Mason, Tarren, Jada, Shya, Nova, River, Shepherd, Hudson and Fletcher.
Her siblings will fondly remember her: David Nancekievill (Dawn), Elsie Thorogood (Bob), Bonnie Daoust (John), and Phil Nancekievill (Kitty). She was preceded in death by her brother Jon Nancekievill (Carolyn).
Ruth was an active member of the Severn Fall Fair throughout her life and found happiness in crocheting and knitting. She created many beautiful handmade items including special tablecloths for those she loved. Known affectionately as “The Butterfly Lady,” Ruth’s creativity and generosity made a lasting impression on many.
She will always be remembered for her warmth and gentle nature; there was always a meal to share at her table. Ruth truly had a sweet spirit that everyone who knew her will miss dearly.
A Celebration of Ruth’s life is set for Saturday October 17th , 2026 at Calvary Pentecostal Church located at 375 Westmount Drive North in Orillia. Family and friends are welcome to stop by between 1:00 p. m. and 2:00 p. m.
