With heavy hearts, we share the news of Robert Neil Weller (“Neil”) passing away peacefully on February 26, 2026, at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. He was 78 years old and surrounded by his loving family.

Neil was a devoted father to Rob (Tammy), Carla (Kevin), and Lisa (Dan), and a trusted friend to their mother, Hellie Weller, all residing in Keswick.

He took great pride in being a grandfather (Pop) to Daniel (Ally), Hayden (Courtney), and Robby (Aliyah), and he was a beloved great-grandfather to Leela and Ava.

Neil shared his life with Estelle Arsenault and was a good friend to her brother, Ron Lamarche.

He leaves behind his sister, Reta Marie, along with his brothers Gord and Bruce. He was predeceased by his brother Doug as well as his parents, Wilfred and Isa Weller. Many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends will remember him fondly.

After graduating from Sutton District High School where he made lifelong friendships, Neil completed the Construction Engineering program at Ryerson Polytechnic Institute in Toronto. He then joined the family business, Weller Tree Service, dedicating himself to its growth alongside his brothers Gord and Bruce.

Neil will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, genuine affection for people, and enjoyment of social gatherings. He had a passion for equipment and antique trucks while relishing the northern Ontario landscape during time spent on his farm. His dogs Casey and Bandit held a special place in his heart.

Neil’s impact on young people entering their careers is truly remarkable. He hired and trained countless individuals-many of whom started their own successful arborist businesses. As a licensed crane operator, he willingly shared his expertise with many aspiring professionals including his son Rob, son-in-law Dan, and grandson Daniel.

The Weller family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital for their kind care throughout Neil’s eight years of dialysis treatment-and especially during his recent ICU stay. A special mention goes out to Nurse Cathy from the dialysis team-a true angel-for her compassionate support; also thanks to the ICU nurses whose dedication during Neil’s last days was exceptional.

In memory of Neil, please raise your glass high while recalling your favorite stories or moments shared with him.

If you wish to honor him further, memorial donations can be made to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 356 on Sunday March 22 from 1:00-5:00 p. m., located at 21 East Street, Sutton West Ontario L0E 1R0.

Neil’s spirit will continue through the stories we tell together-the laughter he brought us-and the love he so freely gave.
