Bob passed away on June 19, 2026, after enjoying 87 wonderful years. He tied the knot with his soulmate, Doris Ann Klein, on September 11, 1965. They shared an incredible 60 years of marriage. Bob took great pride in his sons and daughters-in-law and adored spending time with his grandsons, especially looking forward to their ‘special handshake’.
Born on February 22, 1939, in Kincardine, Ontario, Bob was preceded in death by his father Walter (1991), who dedicated over 45 years to Andrew Malcolm Furniture Co. Ltd., and his mother Amelia (1985), who worked for many years in retail and as a switchboard operator at Bruce Municipal for a decade before serving as town Librarian for nine years. Bob also lost his brother Chris (2000) and sister-in-law Muriel Hopf (2020).
He is survived by his wife Doris. Together they raised two amazing sons: Richard (Monse Villanueva) from Toronto and Rob (Doris Peter) from Dundas. The couple was equally proud of their grandsons Fernando and Ethan. Additionally, he leaves behind brother and sister-in-laws Elaine and Claude Field, Doreen and Hugh Schmidt, along with nieces and nephews.
Bob started working young; he delivered papers while still in school. In high school, he spent three summers at Malcolm’s furniture factory before joining Johnson’s IGA Food Store in Earl Wilson’s Meat Department as a Meat Cutter in 1956. After graduating from Kincardine District High School, he held various roles including Clerk, Meat Manager, and Store Manager across different IGA stores throughout Southwestern Ontario. In 1969 he became an area Meat Supervisor with Loeb Inc. (London), later advancing to Store Supervisor then Regional Director of Retail Operations for Southwestern Ontario where he served for the next 24 years. During that time, Bob earned several company awards including the Loeb Award of Excellence twice before retiring at age 57 in 1996.
Post-retirement brought him joy through the Woodstock-Oxford Men’s Probus Club where he participated actively by serving on multiple committees as well as being Club Secretary for thirteen years.
Brought into Oxford Masonic Lodge 76 GRC in 1975; he became Worshipful Master in 1986 and served many years as Treasurer before being appointed Grand Steward in 1999; he proudly received his 50-year Masonic Pin in 2025 after joining The Woodstock Lodge of Perfection in ’77 followed by Centennial Chapter Rose Croix in ’88.
His faith was central to him at St. David’s United Church since joining back in ‘67 where he remained involved nearly until the end through various Elder/Council Committees along with roles like Treasurer or Council Chair while regularly attending St. David’s Men’s Breakfasts each month-and eventually Zoom meetings too.
Besides family commitments Bob had diverse interests including Men’s VON Workouts since ’05 along with photography research into genealogy helping out around home cooking volunteering at St. David’s team during the Adelaide Soup Bowl for twenty-four years assisting VON Meals On Wheels golfing over forty years at Innerkip Highlands traveling extensively on numerous trips cruises resorts restaurants every Friday night-drawing names randomly when deciding destinations-and enjoying puzzles like sudoku wordle canuckle sharing laughs over coffee chats discussing sports teams like Coro Leafs Jays swapping jokes online friends or former coworkers… overall it has been quite an incredible journey filled plenty memories without regrets…
A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will take place Saturday June27th ,2026 , at eleven AM located Brock&Visser Funeral Home;845 Devonshire Avenue ; Woodstock ; Ontario N4S8Z4. Visitation hours will occur Friday June26th ,2026 from six PM till eight PM followed just prior starting ten AM. A lunch reception follows service everyone welcomed knowing/loving bob can attend.
