Raymond Buckley

He passed away peacefully at home on January 7th, 2007, surrounded by his loving wife and best friend Terri, along with his loyal dog Tucker, at the age of 45. He is deeply loved and missed by his step-daughter Jaime Lynn and her husband Scott, his step-son Christopher and girlfriend Laura, as well as his parents Gerry and Kay Buckley. Ray took great pride in being Papa to three wonderful grandchildren: Caitlynd, Joshua, and Lacy. Caitlynd will especially miss him; she named him Papa and filled his heart with love forever. He was also a cherished son-in-law to Doug and Joan Mc Pherson. Ray’s siblings-in-law include Wendy Mc Pherson, Vicki and David Stokes, Brent and Kori Mc Pherson. He was an uncle to Aaron, Cori, Michael, Megan, Nicki, Jeremy, and Laura. His extended family included aunts like Rosemond Mullins and uncles Barney Casseti with June Casseti, Al Casseti with Jeri Casseti, Pete Casseti with Audrey Casseti as well as Rose Garlow. Ray’s absence will be keenly felt by many cousins who he held dear. The loss of Ray’s laughter, warm smile, big hugs, and sharp humor will leave a significant emptiness in the lives of those who cared for him. However, in time that sadness will transform into fond memories they’ll keep close to their hearts. Ray was a member of Fox Glen Golf Club where he had an enduring passion for golf that cancer couldn’t dim. Last summer he played some of the best golf of his life-achieving personal records while winning more tournaments than ever before in one season. Throughout his illness, the management team along with staff and members at Fox Glen Golf became like family to him. In addition to this support system was a new family that welcomed him last year-the dedicated staff at the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre who showed incredible compassion during his journey. Dr. Sindu Kanjeekal-whom Ray affectionately referred to as “doc”-went above and beyond right up until the end of his life. Ray departed exactly how he hoped he would; God fulfilled all of Ray’s prayers-in every way possible-passing away comfortably at home while resting in his recliner on football Sunday. In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider making memorial donations to the Windsor and Essex Cancer Centre Foundation. Visitation will take place Tuesday from 3-5 p. m., then again from 7-9 p. m., followed by another visitation on Wednesday from 3-5 p. m., then again from 7-9 p. m., at Families First Funeral Home & Tribute Centre (519-969-5841) located at 3260 Dougall Ave. On Thursday morning after 10:00 a. m., friends are invited to gather at Heritage Park Alliance Church (2455 Talbot), leading up to the funeral service set for 11:00 a. m., with cremation afterwards taking place at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
