With great sadness, we share the news of the passing of our beloved Mom, Margaret Isabel (Wright) Rushton, 90, of Westville, previously from Tanner Hill Road. She left us on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, at the Aberdeen Hospital. Born on August 6, 1935, to Stephen and Isabel (Fraser) Wright.

Margaret was an active member and Elder at Salem Presbyterian Church in Salem. She was also a part of the Westville Legion Branch 35 and served as a life and past president of Ladies Auxiliary Branch 35. Additionally, she enjoyed being part of Westville Heritage and Heritage Bowlers as well as the Joyful Noise and Friends Choir.

She is survived by her daughters Diane Rushton from Tanner Hill Road and Darlene Mac Kinnon from Sylvester (her former husband Allan); sons Gerald from Tanner Hill Road and Gary from Pictou Landing. She also had two very special adopted daughters: Jori Hart (Ron) Lovat and Sheila Mac Laren from Tanner Hill Road. Her legacy continues with her grandchildren Glenda Decoff Lawrence (John) along with their children Melissa, Robert, Erika, Emma, Dalton and Hope; Sharmaine (Mac Kinnon) Langille (Patrick) with their kids Ronni and Nolan; Bradley Mac Kinnon; Cavelle Mac Kinnon (Ross); Jaime Parker (Wally) who have children Kaleb and Avah; Jason Rushton with his son Jaykus; Andrea Fanjoy; Krista Knoblauch Doyle (Rick) along with their son Colter; Carlin Heighton (John) who has children Samuel and Benjamin; Jason Hart (Molly) who have kids Chase, Ashton, Gracie and Ellis; plus Kevin Hart (Cassidy). She also leaves behind seven great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents Stephen and Isabel Wright, her infant brother John as well as Raymond and Ronnie. She also lost daughters Sheri-Lynn Knoblauch and Marilyn Fanjoy along with grandson Owen Mac Kinnon. Furthermore, she was preceded in death by sons-in-law Victor Knoblauch and Phillip Murray.

Some things she loved were cheering for her favorite teams like the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs. She enjoyed playing cards, Kinsmen TV Bingo while attending events at the De Coste Center. Over the years she had the opportunity to travel to several places including Ireland, Scotland, England as well as Las Vegas.

Our Mom worked hard throughout her life. She always made herself available for anyone in need. Her deep love for family created countless wonderful memories during family gatherings that brought joy to all involved.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the incredible doctors and nurses at Aberdeen Hospital for their compassion towards our Mom during her time there. We’re also grateful to VON staff who came into our home since Mom wouldn’t have been able to stay there without their support. She always appreciated them with hugs whenever they visited.

If you’d like to honor her memory through donations they can be made to Salem Presbyterian Church or Pictou County VON or Aberdeen Palliative Care.

You can visit on Friday July 24th between 2-4 PM or from 6-8 PM at Eagles Funeral Home in Westville. The funeral service will take place Saturday July 25th at 10:00 AM at Salem Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Barb Fotheringham.
