We are heartbroken to share the news of Lynda Joyce Desmarais (nee Barton) passing away at the age of 77. Born in Windsor, Ontario, she graduated from the Hotel-Dieu school of nursing in 1969. Lynda started her career in Toronto with Canada’s first heart transplant team. After getting married to Gary in 1971, they returned to Windsor, where she worked in labour and delivery before going back to Toronto to join the Canadian Red Cross. In the mid-80s, Lynda returned to Windsor as the Nursing Manager for Canadian Blood Services. After a decade there, she and Gary relocated to Austria for his three-year work assignment. Once that was complete, they moved to Clarkston, MI, where Lynda became part of Miro / 21st Century Radiation Oncology Clinic.
Lynda had a passion for life; she was the heart of her family who loved her dearly. She enjoyed many years by the lake, playing tennis, boating, waterskiing and traveling extensively. A talented artist, she loved painting with oils and had a great love for nature that was only matched by her affection for dogs. She is survived by her furry friend Stella. It would be hard to find someone kinder or more loving than Lynda; family always came first for her.
She leaves behind her husband of 55 years and best friend Gary Desmarais along with their three daughters: Nicole (Alex) Price, Colette (Jeff Lawson) Desmarais and Carolyn (Rick Wilk) Desmarais. They also have five grandchildren: Leah, Olivia, Sam, Liam and Noah. She is survived by her sister Donna and brother-in-law Allyn Miller from Big Rapids, MI., as well as niece Anya Miller Beebe and nephew Ryan Miller. Great Aunt to Briana and Ella Beebe. She was predeceased by her parents Pauline Barton (nee Homick) and Leslie Barton. Cremation has been carried out at Wint Funeral Home in Clarkston MI.
