Sister Edna (Honey) Esther Richardson (nee Laube) passed away peacefully at the Canora Hospital on Monday, December 22nd, 2025. She is now with her Savior. Born on a farm near Springside, Sk., she enjoyed all the adventures that rural life had to offer as she grew up. In her youth, she attended Valley Church in Springside, where she met and married the love of her life, Pastor Russell Richardson. They tied the knot on September 29, 1950, and embarked on a beautiful journey together in ministry. Although they made their home in the Yorkton area, they traveled across Canada, the USA, and several countries abroad conducting tent meetings and reaching many souls for the Lord Jesus.
During this time, they built and established eight churches and ran a Training Centre for 22 years. They also managed a radio ministry on 25 different stations since 1968, which continues to this day. In that same year, they constructed the Yorkton Free Pentecostal Church with a mission to reach as many people as possible in their community. Sister Richardson wrote and distributed the Free Pentecostal News Letter three to four times each year since 1968; her final newsletter was shared in October of 2025. Over the years, numerous water baptisms took place and thousands of souls were saved.
After Pastor Russel’s passing, Sister continued leading services until her last days within the church ministry. Besides their church responsibilities, she and Pastor owned a farm near Stoughton, Sk., where she fearlessly drove tractors hauling bales right up until around 2012 when they sold their cattle.
Sister Richardson was a devoted servant of God and a pioneer of the gospel. She had an unwavering love for her Lord Jesus Christ along with an intense wish to fulfill God’s will. Her family extended beyond blood relations to include her church family and everyone she encountered throughout her life.
Sister Richardson was predeceased by her husband Pastor Russel Richardson; her parents Otto and Elizabeth (Wallman) Laube; her in-laws Ralph and Lavina Richardson; brothers Herb (Marjorie) Laube and Lawrence (Austrie) Laube; sisters Anne (Willie) Shindle and Ruth (Evert) Alberts; brother-in-law Bert (Rita) Richardson; sisters-in-law Lila (Robert) Fenn and Doreen (Ray) Gilby; along with her nephew Eddie (Marilyn) Shindle.
She is survived by her Free Pentecostal Church family along with many nieces and nephews who were an important part of her life as well as all her brothers and sisters in Christ.
