It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marvin Wilhelm Adolf Wideman shares his passing on April 17th, 2026, just four months after losing his dear wife, Clarice.
Marvin was born in Port Arthur and spent his childhood in Sunshine and Murillo. He met Clarice at a dance, and they tied the knot on November 5th, 1960, celebrating an amazing 65 years together. Their journey began in the “Little House” on Murphy Avenue before settling into their home in Rosslyn, where they raised their four children: Shawn, Dale, Scott, and Crystal over the course of 63 years.
Marvin worked as an electrician for various companies and at Manitoba Pool elevator. He was truly handy and could fix just about anything. He loved repurposing items and was always hunting for hidden treasures at yard sales or flea markets for his next project. One of his favorite sayings was, “There’s nothing up there; it’s all down here.”
He created a family camp at Cloud Lake where he enjoyed spending time on the water with the kids while pulling them on water-skis or tubes or taking relaxing boat rides around the lake. His passion for the outdoors included fishing trips to many lakes and camping adventures with his grandchildren at Little Pigeon Bay. When not by the water, you’d often find him tending to his garden at home or collecting antique farm equipment and tractors. He took pride in showcasing an impressive collection of model tractors, cars, and racing memorabilia.
Above all else, Marvin appreciated life’s simple joys. Country drives, sharing stories, and enjoying coffee with friends were some of his favorite activities alongside Clarice right until the end. He had a natural gift for teaching with a wealth of knowledge to share; he was known as a hard worker who would always lend a helping hand to family and friends. His strong work ethic and generosity will continue through his family as they remember his example. Many will miss him dearly.
Marvin leaves behind children Shawn (Cheryl), Dale (Mary), Scott (Tracey), and Crystal (Leonard); ten grandchildren: Shannon, Amanda (Jeff), Shawn Jr. (Alexa), Ryan, Justin (Carina), Robyn (Ryan), Troy (Jasmine), Shelby (Jerry), Devon (Taylor), Kerri (Lyndon); along with eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Alan Robbins and Lloyd Robbins; sisters-in-law Gale Bloye and Irene (Bernie) Goliboski; plus many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Clarice; parents Arthur and Hilda Wideman; brother Raynold Wideman; sister-in-law Beatrice Wideman; step-sister Elne Englemark; father-in-law Delbert Robbins; mother-in-law Julia Robbins; brother-in-law James Robbins; sister-in-law Alma Kempe along with her husband Bill Kempe; plus nephews Dean Wideman and Bernie Goliboski Jr.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Slovak Legion on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 from 1:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m.
Marvin supported numerous charities throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
