Gerald passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving this world with the same quiet strength and dignity that defined his life. He is now reunited with his beloved wife of 45 years, Therese (née Alarcon) (2001), with whom he enjoyed many wonderful years filled with dancing, laughter, and love.
He was a proud father to Jerry (Charity), Laurie, Michelle Dingman (Jude), Allison Bray (Dan Gauvin), Jamie (Dale), and Jason. A delighted Grandpa (Papa) to Jodi, Sara, Kristen, Ryan, Martin, Jude, Serena, Cody, Christian, Aidan (2025), and Bethany. He also took great joy in being a great-grandpa to Sophie, Hannah, William, Sloane, and Mia.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents Roy (1988) and Laura (1994), his brothers Orval (Rose) and Raymond (Shirley), along with his parents-in-law Julio (1961) and Marie (1965) Alarcon. He is survived by his loving siblings Alice (late William) and Lawrence (Barbara), as well as sister-in-law Janet Mc Carron (Edward). Many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends will fondly remember him.
A man of quiet strength and steady devotion, Gerald retired from Chrysler after 44 years of dedicated service. Outside of work hours he found happiness in simple pleasures like dancing with Therese, playing cards or staying active through sports he loved. He enjoyed bowling with the Chrysler League while also watching hockey and golf. It was during a baseball game that he first noticed Therese; she was watching from the sidelines when a ball rolled to her feet. That moment caught his attention forever.
In younger days Gerald showed off his determination as an accomplished boxer. A devoted community member too; he took pride in being part of the Knights of Columbus where he became known for selling raffle tickets like a pro.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Chartwell – Oak Park Terrace and Brouillette Manor as well as all the PSWs from Bayshore Home Instead and St. Elizabeth for their kindness towards Gerald in his later years.
