Joseph Michael “Mike” Mackett passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 66, after a battle with ALS.
Mike was skilled in woodworking and cabinet making and spent most of his working life in the pulp and paper sector. He was an enthusiastic Toronto Maple Leafs fan who enjoyed running and cherished many moments fishing at Obonga Lake.
He is survived by his children Ryan (Kaitlin) and Brittany (Steve), along with his brothers John, David (Valerie), and Paul (Charlene). He also leaves behind Uncle Tony and Auntie Janie Masotti, Aunt Pam Masotti, Mirella Vercillo, the mother of his children, as well as cousins who were dear to him including Sherrie (Drew) Larsen, Joel (Reuben Jimenez), Mark (Monica) Masotti, Chris (Kathy) Masotti, and Jaqueline (Jerry) Smith.
Mike will be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews who each have special memories of fun times shared with “Uncle Mike”.
He is predeceased by his parents Don and Maria Mackett along with Uncle Joe Masotti.
Ryan and Brittany find comfort in knowing their father is finally at peace and free from suffering.
If you’d like to honor Mike’s memory through charitable donations, his children suggest considering contributions to ALS Canada, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre, or the John Howard Society of Ontario. Cremation has taken place.
