We are heartbroken to share the news of Jason Edward Holmes’ passing (known to many as Jay or Holmes) at 52 years old on June 21, 2025, at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, Ontario. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Wilma and John.
Jason had a strong faith and a deep commitment to his family. He enjoyed 28 wonderful years with his wife, Amy, and was a dedicated father to their kids, Liam and Kiera. As a caring big brother to his sisters, Michelle Rose (Adrian) and Cindy (Jim), he truly embraced being an uncle to his nieces and nephews: Ava, Landon, Trevor, Cole, Griffin, Sean, Ashleigh, Jameson, and Ellie. His steadfast support also extended to his in-laws, Dorothy and the late Jack Howey. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Nicole and brother-in-law Joel (Jill), along with many other family members and friends.
A passionate sports fan, Jason excelled at flatland BMX biking and loved snowboarding and golfing. Proudly supporting the Ottawa Senators, he fostered a passion for hockey that he shared through coaching young players-encouraging them to chase their dreams.
Throughout his life until the end, Jason held fast to his faith reflecting the spirit of 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
A memorial service will take place at Emmanuel Baptist Church located at 374 Salem Rd., Barrie ON at 11 o’clock a. m. on Wednesday June 25th ,2025 with visitation beforehand from 9:30 to 10:45 a. m. Pastor Warren Morris will officiate. Burial will be private for family only.
If you wish to honor Jason’s memory with donations instead of flowers please consider contributing to the ALS Society which supports research and assistance for those affected by ALS.
Thank you for your love and support during this challenging time; we also extend our gratitude for the care provided to Jason at Hospice Simcoe.
