Catherine Elaine “Cathy” Hawn, age 69, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Bracebridge, Ontario, Cathy was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Verna (Amey) Hawn.

Cathy dedicated much of her career to helping others through her work at the Algoma Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Centre. Her job was very important to her, and she truly cared about giving back to her community.

She was also a gifted artist when it came to crafting. Family and friends often received her thoughtful handmade gifts-each one unique and made with care.

Cathy will be fondly remembered by her daughter, Natalie Palewicz; her sister Margaret “Peggy” Carol (Hawn) Jewiss and brother-in-law Ross Jewiss; along with her nieces and nephew: Amy (Jewiss) Pfrimmer and her children Marcus and Maria; Benjamin Jewiss and his spouse Melanie and their children Henry and Duncan; as well as Beth (Jewiss) Kutcha and her spouse Benjamin with their children Everett and Rex. She will also be remembered by extended family members and friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at ARCH Hospice for the compassionate care given during Cathy’s final days.

A celebration of Cathy’s life will take place at a later date in Sault Ste. Marie and Bracebridge, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathy’s memory may be made to ARCH Hospice. Payable by cheque or online at https://www. archhospice. ca/donate.

“On the night of the Blood Moon, her light did not fade away – it simply joined the stars.”

Visit www. osullivanfuneralhome. com to leave condolences for the family. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home (215 St. James St., Sault Ste. Marie, ON, P6A 1P7, 705-759-8456)
