Christine Edith Mc Carthy (nee Maidman), age 76, of Corunna, Ontario, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2006, after a brave battle with dementia. Born on April 22, 1950 in Sarnia, Ontario to Ken and Joyce Maidman, she led a fulfilling life.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ken and Joyce, and her son John Paul Mc Carthy. She is lovingly survived by her husband Tim Mc Carthy Sr., married for 59 years; her children Tim (Nicole D’Aoust) Mc Carthy Jr. from Sarnia, Ontario and Karen Mc Carthy from Vancouver, British Columbia; as well as her grandchildren Olivia and Jordan Mc Carthy along with many extended family members and friends.

Outside of work, family brought her the greatest joy. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and looking after her home-a place always full of warmth. When her kids were younger, their home was filled with children-her own kids plus their friends from the neighborhood. She made sure everyone was well cared for and fed. Many hours were spent watching kids play in the family swimming pool. Once her children became teenagers, she volunteered at the Sarnia Children’s Centre where she assisted in classrooms for children who had faced significant traumas. Christine had a kind heart that naturally gravitated towards helping children. She loved gathering games, crafts and toys for kids who visited either at home or at the cottage.

“The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Sumac Lodge for the exceptional care and dignity they provided her with in her final years.”

“A celebration of Christine’s life will be announced soon and will be held at a later date.”

Expressions of sympathy may be made through donations to the Sarnia Lambton Alzheimer’s Society at https://alzheimer. ca/sarnialambton/en

Arrangements are entrusted to the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia, ON N7T 5W9). Memories and messages of condolence may be sent through www. djrobb. on. ca
