Brian Lise peacefully passed away to be with Jesus on the morning of July 17th, 2025 in Rosthern, SK.

Born on January 5, 1946 in Drente, Holland, Brian moved to Canada with his parents, Tom and Jane Lise, and six siblings when he was just 9 years old. They settled in Ontario and lived in various places. Even as a young boy, Brian was friendly and outgoing to everyone he met; his love for life was infectious. He lived with a strong faith in Jesus and had a desire to share that hope with all around him. He was someone who had vision and purpose, along with a genuine passion for helping others and mentoring.

During his early years, he got involved with sports and his school community. He attended Mohawk College for Electrical Engineering where he captained the football team, edited the yearbook, and volunteered as the local president of the Young People’s Association. After college, he worked in his electrical field while taking time off to explore Europe, Mexico, and various parts of Canada and the US with his best friend Alf. During this period, he met a wonderful Dutch woman named Rita Buninga who also came to Canada as a child; they married on December 3rd, 1971. Shortly after that, he began working for a Cable TV company in Nova Scotia as their family started to grow.

The first daughter Joy was born in Nova Scotia followed closely by Janet when they moved to New Brunswick for work at the cable company. In 1977, Brian felt called away from the growing engineering industry into ministry work. The family relocated to Sarnia ON where Brian became a Christian camp director. Their trailer home soon felt cramped when their third daughter Julie arrived. The family then moved to Holland Marsh ON where Brian built them a new house while working for The World Home Bible League raising funds for Bibles. It was there that they completed their family with two more daughters: Juanita and Justina. In 1992 they moved again-this time to Abbotsford BC-as Brian took up work at Pacific Island Ministries before returning back to Ontario in 1996 where he joined Partners International then later became director at Eurovangelism. Throughout those working years he traveled visiting missionaries while raising funds for different projects; often leading Vision trips so others could see how their contributions were making an impact while always encouraging people join him in supporting Christ through prayer and financial gifts too! One of his most cherished memories is from meeting Mother Theresa during his trip to Kolkata India back in ’94! Over these years he visited over sixty countries touching countless lives along the way-God used him significantly helping raise more than ten million dollars towards Gospel outreach!

Both Brian & Rita were actively engaged at their local church volunteering whenever possible! He even traveled doing itinerant preaching inspiring many about missions providing chances for them give generously! They supported each of their daughters through Bible College experiences & travels worldwide together as well! In twenty eleven they chose Warman SK-their fifth province-to retire near grandchildren whom they loved spending precious hours watching soccer games or enjoying sunny gardens-even snowy winters too! Their hobbies included biking gardening evening strolls alongside traveling visiting friends & family across Canada globally!

In two thousand eleven it came about that Brian was diagnosed with prostate cancer which led him treating it naturally until complications arose fall twenty twenty-three onwards… Meanwhile Rita faced dementia diagnosis just two years later seeing swift decline after that-but throughout every challenge Bryan stayed devotedly supportive during those hard times having been partners almost fifty-four amazing years total together! Then come fall twenty-four (2024) Bryan decided treat himself & take all five daughters out cruising celebrating life/family bonding moments together… Unfortunately after that vacation it seemed like things worsened health wise quickly afterwards despite loving visits/encouragement from close friends/family… Ultimately Bryan lost battle against disease this past July-during final days we witnessed him call upon Jesus seeking strength amidst pain asking Him welcome him home peacefully!

He leaves behind wife Rita plus five daughters: Joy (Jesse) Nokinsky; Janet (Mario) Martin; Julie (Joel) MacKinnon; Juanita (Aaron) Tuntland & Justina (Gonzalo) Lise along nine grandchildren: Liam Linden Leia Lise Lloyd Joshua August Stella Leon… Also survived are siblings Jessie(Ralph) Koolma Shirley(Fred)(both deceased); John(deceased)Lise Bill(Jill)Lise Luke(Shirley)Lise Linda(deceased)(Frank)VanderPol Ralph(Emmy)Lise Otto(AnnaMarie)Lise Wayne(June)Lise.

The family wishes express sincere gratitude towards wonderful residents/staff members Rosthern Mennonite Care Home showing such warmth/love caring Dad during final year life.
