8th August 1982 – 4th March 2026
With heavy hearts, we share the news of Brian Edward Arnold’s passing. The Brian we knew will always be remembered for his commitment to making a positive impact. He was intelligent, kind, humorous, generous, and loyal. He had a wide circle of friends because you couldn’t meet Brian without liking him. He was outgoing yet had a private side too. An enthusiastic Boy Scout, he also trained with the Volunteer Fire Department at Shebandowan, eager to serve others. Last year brought him joy when his favorite Blue Jays reached the World Series, and he was excited about the upcoming season. A gifted writer of songs, poetry, and letters, his words were thoughtful and sometimes profound. Music in all its forms filled his life with happiness. As an excellent cook, he loved trying out new recipes. After completing a welding course at Confederation College, he built a career in construction working for various builders and even ran his own company for a short time. Always focused on following proper procedures at work, he began taking courses in workplace safety and eventually became the Health and Safety Manager for major construction firms across Northwestern Ontario, creating programs that helped those companies secure certifications needed to bid on significant public projects. He took great pride in these achievements. Despite his strengths, Brian faced vulnerabilities as well; the loss of his mother and best friend weighed heavily on him. Battling health issues led him to lose weight successfully and quit smoking per his surgeon’s advice; however, this didn’t ease his pain completely. His struggle with pain turned into depression as old challenges resurfaced after years of being under control. Sadly, this downward spiral ultimately contributed to his early passing. Left grieving are his father Ken (Loraine St. Jacques), brother Iain (Kayla), and sister Gillian. Family members mourning from afar include relatives in Northern Ireland, Texas, and Australia. Brian is pre-deceased by his mother Melinda and grandparents Doris and Ed Daignault from Sioux Lookout along with Hazel and Brian Arnold from Northern Ireland. A Funeral Mass celebrating Brian’s life will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 10:00 a. m., at St. Andrew’s R. C. Church. Friends wishing to honor Brian’s memory may consider donating to the DEK Foundation or the Canadian Mental Health Association or any charity they prefer would be greatly appreciated.
