Provincial police report that a woman has died and another is hospitalized following a crash on Highway 403 at Dundas Street East in Oakville.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p. m. on Thursday.
Burlington OPP stated they were responding to a report of a vehicle stopped in an active, westbound lane.
“Before emergency response could attend, the vehicle was struck by an approaching tractor-trailer,” says Sgt. Kerry Schmidt in a video shared on social media.
A 78-year-old driver is dead and her 67-year-old female passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say that the 78-year-old woman has passed away, while her 67-year-old female passenger was transported to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The highway remained closed for several hours before reopening around 4 a. m. Friday.
