Halton police have charged a previous employee of an Oakville dental office after a financial-crimes investigation revealed over $235,000 in allegedly misappropriated business funds that were redirected into personal bank accounts.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) stated that it began the investigation in April 2025 following a report that a male employee had been unlawfully diverting money from the dental practice into accounts he controlled. The transactions took place while he was still working at the clinic.

Over several months, investigators employed what police described as “a variety of investigative techniques” to track the flow of funds. They found that between May 2023 and January 2025, more than $235,000 had been transferred into the employee’s accounts.

On May 1, 2026, police arrested Ngoc Tuan Nguyen, 36, of Mississauga. He faces charges including fraud over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and laundering proceeds of crime.

Nguyen has been released on an undertaking and is set to appear in court in Milton.

Authorities mention that the accused might have worked at other dental offices and are concerned there could be more victims.

If anyone has information related to this case, they are encouraged to reach out to Det. Const. Kate Banks of the Financial Crimes Unit.
