Police in Halton Region have taken three men into custody and filed several charges after an auto theft investigation in Oakville early this morning.
On Feb. 1 at around 2:30 a. m., officers were patrolling Oakville when they noticed a blue Ford F150 and a white Lincoln Aviator parked in a commercial driveway close to Third Line and Wyecroft Road. As the officers approached the vehicles, three suspects jumped into the Lincoln Aviator and took off on the QEW.
About 15 minutes later, police spotted the Lincoln at the Ford Motor Plant, where the suspects were trying to steal a black Ford Expedition.
The three men were quickly apprehended without any trouble.
Following their arrest, Ahmed Shkais, 30, along with two teenagers faced charges for theft of a motor vehicle, possession of break-in tools, and various other offenses.
Both Shkais and one of the teens aged 16 were already out on bail for similar crimes when they were arrested.
All suspects are being held pending their respective bail hearings in Milton.
A follow-up investigation revealed that the Lincoln Aviator was reported stolen from Peel Region. The Ford F150 had been taken from the Burlington Hampton Inn and Suites just before it was seen by patrol officers.
