Authorities are looking for a suspect after an armed robbery at a jewelry shop in downtown Oakville.

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) reports that an employee of National Jewellers on Lakeshore Road West was getting ready to open the store around 10:00 a. m. on Thursday, May 14th, when a man approached them with a handgun. Investigators say the suspect forced the employee inside and ordered them to a secure area before making off with cash and jewelry.

The suspect tied up the employee’s hands before escaping on foot. A black BB gun was later found at the scene. Fortunately, the employee did not sustain any physical injuries.

The HRPS describes the suspect as:

Male wearing a black hoodie, black running shoes, beige pants, gloves and a baseball hat carrying a backpack

The HRPS is asking anyone who may have information about this case, including any security or dash cam footage from the area of Lakeshore Rd W. and Wilson St. between 9:00 a. m. and 11:00 a. m., to reach out to the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2216.

Tips can also be sent anonymously to Crime Stoppers. “See something? Hear something? Know something? Contact Crime Stoppers” at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online.
