A man from Brantford is facing charges after an investigation into the theft of equipment and tools from an aerospace firm in Oakville.

Halton police started looking into the case last month when the aerospace company reported that specialized millwright and aerospace tools had been stolen.

Investigators say they identified the suspect as someone who worked at the company.

Authorities found that the stolen items were allegedly listed for sale on social media by the suspect.

The detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in Brantford on June 30, where they arrested the suspect.

During this search, police recovered around $250,000 worth of millwright and aerospace tools, along with over $150,000 in Canadian cash.

The officers also discovered high-end designer watches and sunglasses that they believe are linked to crime proceeds.

The authorities have charged 30-year-old Abhishek Kumar Patel from Brantford with crimes including theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained through crime over $5,000, and trafficking possessing property obtained through crime over $5,000.

Patel is currently being held in custody while awaiting a bail hearing in Milton.

The investigation is still ongoing as police seek to find more stolen property and determine if additional charges are needed.
