A business owner known for custom tailored menswear has been identified as the homicide victim discovered in downtown Oakville.
Halton Regional Police report that Baljeet ‘Bally’ Toki, 43, was found deceased in his store Montagio Custom Tailoring on Lakeshore Road on Saturday (March 22).
Initial reports suggested the death was suspicious, prompting police to involve their Major Crime Unit for further investigation.
Currently, authorities haven’t disclosed the cause of death but believe Toki’s passing was an isolated event with no ongoing threat to public safety.
Investigators are canvassing the downtown Oakville area for witnesses and looking for surveillance footage from between 10 a. m. and 5:30 p. m. on Saturday.
They are particularly interested in video recorded between Trafalgar Road and Navy Street, north of William Street and south of Randall Street.
Police also encourage anyone who drove along Trafalgar Road between Lakeshore and Dundas Street and might have dashcam footage to reach out to them.
Toki, originally from Australia, had recently moved to Canada where he ran his bespoke clothing shop on Lakeshore Road.
