Authorities in Halton Region report that a probe into missing money from an Oakville dental office has resulted in fraud charges against a man from Mississauga.
The Financial Crimes Unit of Halton Police initiated their investigation last year after receiving alerts about funds allegedly being diverted from the dental practice to various bank accounts managed by an employee.
“Over the next few months, investigators utilized a variety of investigative techniques and processes to determine that more than $235,000 had been redirected to the employee’s accounts between May 2023 and January 2025,” said police.
Following the inquiry, Ngoc Tuan Nguyen, 36, of Mississauga, faces charges for:
Fraud – over $5000 Possession of property obtained by crime – over $5000 Laundering proceeds of crime
Nguyen was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Police continue to investigate and are eager to connect with other offices where the accused has worked.
