Peel police report that a shooting victim managed to exit the highway and drive to a gas station near Creditview and Britannia to contact authorities.
An investigation is currently underway following a shooting on Highway 401 in Mississauga last night.
Gunfire erupted in the eastbound collector lanes of the highway close to Mavis Road at about 12:15 a. m.

Numerous rounds were discharged at the vehicle, prompting the driver to pull off the highway to seek safety at a nearby gas station.
One passenger suffered minor injuries from debris caused by a shattered window, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). They were transported to hospital as a precautionary measure.
“Investigators believe there is no wider threat to public safety at this time,” stated the OPP in a news release issued Friday.
“The OPP urges community members to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activity to police.”
Police have indicated that the investigation is ongoing and will be handled by the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
Authorities are requesting anyone with information regarding the incident, or dash camera footage from that area, to reach out to the OPP.
All eastbound collector lanes of the highway were closed for several hours at Winston Churchill Boulevard while police conducted their investigation; however, they reopened around 7 a. m.
