2 Weather Warning in effect for Toronto, Mississauga and southern Ontario

Drivers in the Golden Horseshoe region, which includes Toronto, Mississauga, and Brampton, are facing a tough start to the day as two weather warnings come into play, making conditions tricky from morning through afternoon.

Environment officials report that dense fog has settled in parts of the area this morning, with some regions experiencing almost zero visibility.

This sudden decrease in visibility is likely to create hazardous travel conditions, especially during the busy morning commute. Motorists should be aware that visibility can change quickly and unexpectedly, raising the risk of accidents on highways and local roads.

Drivers are encouraged to reduce their speed, use headlights, and maintain extra space between vehicles since conditions can fluctuate rapidly.

As the fog begins to dissipate, a second weather system moving across southern Ontario is bringing consistent rainfall. Accumulations of 10 to 20 mm are expected from this morning into the afternoon.

This rain is connected to a cold front moving through the region and carries a chance of isolated thunderstorms.

Given that the ground is already saturated from previous rains, even moderate amounts of rain could cause localized flooding. Expect water pooling on roads and in low-lying areas, particularly in urban centers.

Officials remind drivers never to attempt crossing flooded roadways and to steer clear of areas known for poor drainage.

The combination of early fog followed by rain means a slow and potentially risky commute both this morning and later today as conditions continue to change throughout the day.

Residents throughout southern Ontario should stay vigilant and keep an eye on updates as conditions develop.
