“At approximately 3:05 p. m., following the end of school for the day, LCVI and Calvin Park Public School went into lockdown as a safety measure due to worries about a possible threat inside the school,”
said Margaret Connelly, Principal of both LCVI and Calvin Park Public School, in a letter addressing the situation.

“The administration at LCVI quickly informed Kingston Police who came to investigate the matter. Following police guidance, just after 4:00 p. m., students and staff remaining in the building began to be safely led out,” Connelly stated.

Connelly added that “after the police completed their investigation, normal evening activities at the school resumed.”

Kingston Police indicated that they believe this threat was an instance of “SWATTING” without any real basis; however, they conducted a thorough search of the schools as a precaution.

According to Connelly, “there is no further information available at this time.”

“We recognize that this situation may have been stressful for students. Counseling and support services will be available for anyone needing help on Monday,” Connelly continued. “If you think your child could use support, please reach out to the school.”

“As always, ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority,” Connelly said. “We appreciate our staff for keeping a calm and caring environment for those who were still at school and thank Kingston Police for their quick response.”
