Ontario Provincial Police report that two individuals have died and three others were injured following an accident on Highway 401 in Mississauga.
The incident took place in the eastbound express lanes of the highway near Dixie Road shortly before 9 a. m. on Wednesday.
Authorities say a 53-year-old woman and an 80-year-old man, both from Cambridge, Ont., were pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other people were transported to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, they noted.
Police indicated that parts of Highway 401 east were closed for several hours but have now reopened.
