Recent Break-Ins in Mississauga and Brampton
188 break-and-enters over 31 days in Mississauga and Brampton, Ontario

In the last 31 days, there were 188 break-and-enter incidents reported in Mississauga and Brampton.

Peel Regional Police data shows these events took place from Oct. 23 to Nov. 23.

Mississauga experienced more of these crimes, with 117 incidents compared to Brampton’s 71.

The map below highlights the locations where these incidents occurred:

The data also reveals that various places were affected:

A total of 104 houses, eight apartments, 13 garages or sheds, eight apartments again, three restaurants, four construction sites, two jewelry stores, three schools, eight retail stores and two offices were targeted; five were simply categorized as “other,” while 36 were marked as “unidentified” businesses.

This month’s most frequent break-in locations included:

Dundas Street-seven occurrences Queen Street-eight occurrences

As of Sunday, investigations into most of these cases are still ongoing: 166 are active, 15 have been solved and seven remain unsolved.

Residents should take steps to secure their homes and prevent break-ins by following these police tips:

Keep shrubs and hedges around your property trimmed for clear sightlines to all
accessible windows and doors. Make sure garage and screen doors are locked even when you’re at home. Get familiar with your neighbours and watch over each other’s properties. Think about adding an extra locking device for windows and sliding doors. INsauga’s Editorial Standards and Policies
