UPDATE: A man who was shot by a police officer in Markham early Wednesday morning is in critical and life-threatening condition, according to the Special Investigations Unit.
The SIU reported that around 4:45 a. m. on June 11, someone living at a condominium complex on 278 Buchanan Dr. called the police about a disturbance coming from another unit.
York Regional Police responded, and upon arrival at the unit, officers heard signs of trouble inside.
As officers entered the unit, one of them fired their weapon shortly after. The SIU confirmed that a man was hit.
Both the man and a woman found inside were taken to the hospital for serious injuries. The woman is currently stable.
Three investigators along with three forensic experts have been assigned to look into this incident.
