York Regional Police (YRP) are asking for help from witnesses after a hit-and-run incident involving a motorcycle and a transport truck in Markham left a 30-year-old man fighting for his life.
Officers responded to the area of Woodbine Avenue and John Street around 6:30 p. m. on Wednesday following reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a large commercial truck.
Authorities stated that the motorcyclist, who is from Markham, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the transport truck did not stay at the scene, according to investigators. The police have since located the truck, but no information has been shared about the driver or if any arrests have occurred.
The Major Collision Investigation Unit is now handling this case and is working to figure out what led up to the accident.
Investigators are encouraging anyone who was nearby at that time – especially drivers with dash cam footage – to come forward.
The investigation continues.
