LONDON – Authorities in London, Ont., report that a woman has been charged with criminal negligence after she allegedly drove her car into the wall of a shopping mall gym last Friday, injuring six people inside.
According to police, one individual was trapped under the vehicle after it crashed through a brick wall at Sherwood Forest Mall and into a Good Life Fitness gym where people were participating in a class.
Seven individuals, including the driver, were transported to the hospital with various injuries; four have since been released.
The 59-year-old woman from London has been charged with six counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and appeared in court on Monday.
London Police Chief Thai Truong stated on Friday that investigators have evidence suggesting the vehicle accelerated into the building.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has video footage to reach out to them.
