A 40-year-old woman has been charged with first-degree murder after a 44-year-old woman was found dead at a Kitchener home on Monday afternoon.
At approximately 12:50 p. m., police responded to a disturbance call at a residence located at Highland Road W. and Patricia Avenue.
When officers arrived, they discovered the deceased 44-year-old woman from Kitchener. A 40-year-old woman from Kitchener was taken into custody at the scene and subsequently charged with first-degree murder.
Authorities believe that the two individuals were acquainted.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit, Special Victims Unit, and Forensic Identification Unit are currently conducting an investigation.
An increased police presence will be noticeable in the area as officers canvass for witnesses and collect further information.
