After several police raids and the eventual shutdown in Kitchener and Cambridge in 2024, it looks like the magic mushroom shop Fun Guyz is quietly making its return to Waterloo Region.

Sources say that, along with its website, the psilocybin distributor will be operating out of Vape Guys, which is set to open at 18 Ainslie St. S in downtown Galt, Cambridge.

Fun Guyz referred to it as “Our new secret location” on their website, with an online map pointing to the new Vape Guys store on Ainslie.

“We at Funguyz truly believe that magic mushrooms can save the world,” they stated on their site. “We do our best to make the industry grow and prosper every single day.”

This comes after previous magic mushroom dispensaries faced multiple raids from the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS), with one notable incident resulting in police confiscating around $63,000 worth of drugs.

“We would like to remind the public that the sale of psilocybin is a criminal offence,” Constable Chris Iden from WRPS said in a statement to 570 News Radio. “Businesses engaged in selling these products are operating unlawfully, and the substances they offer are neither regulated nor subject to standardized quality control measures.”

Other locations across Canada experienced similar crackdowns, leading to 30 storefronts being shut down nationwide.

According to their website, Fun Guyz still operates 28 magic mushroom storefronts in Ontario and Quebec while also maintaining an online sales market.

570 News Radio reached out directly for comments from Fun Guyz. They responded by saying, “We do not have a Fun Guyz store in Cambridge,” but did not mention anything about the new “secret location” or whether it’s linked with Vape Guys.

The regional police indicated they will continue looking into complaints and taking enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance with federal laws.
