Welcome to the May long weekend! If you’re planning to stay local, there are plenty of events happening.
The annual heritage plant sale will take place at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum on Saturday morning from 9:30 a. m. to noon. You’ll find flowers and vegetables that grow in the gardens of Doon Heritage Village. Supplies are limited, and please note that sales are cash only.
The Elora Plein Air Festival is going all weekend long. Artists will be busy painting around the village and countryside until late Friday. There’s a quick-paint competition on Saturday, followed by a reveal of works from 75 artists that evening. On Sunday, you can check out the show and sale where you can buy original pieces created over the weekend.
The warm weather is finally here, making it perfect for enjoying outdoor sports on the big screen at Gaslight District in Cambridge. You can catch Toronto Blue Jays games on Friday night as well as Saturday and Sunday afternoon when they face off against the Detroit Tigers, or watch as the Montreal Canadiens play against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. Feel free to bring your own food, drinks, and lawn chairs while you enjoy the game(s).
On Monday, swing by Mc Dougall Cottage in Cambridge for some freshly baked mini scones served with jam and whipped cream-what a treat! There will also be tea, coffee, or ginger cordial available. Admission is by donation.
The Kitchener Rangers are taking a well-deserved break before heading to Kelowna, B. C., for the Memorial Cup but look out for a pep rally scheduled for Tuesday at 5 p. m. outside Kitchener’s city hall.
This Sunday marks the home opener for the Kitchener Panthers at Jack Couch Park starting at 2:05 p. m., where they’ll be up against the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers.
The Guelph Royals will be playing away this weekend.
