The Waterloo Area District College Board must defend itself in opposition to allegations of discrimination, following a ruling by the Ontario Courtroom of Attraction.
The swimsuit was filed in Jan. 2022 by former educator Carolyn Burjoski. She was a delegate at a college board assembly and presenting her considerations about sure books in elementary faculty libraries that function themes of gender identification and sexuality.
Former board member Scott Piatkowski was involved among the language within the presentation was in violation of the Ontario Human Rights Code, and had the presentation shut down.
Burjoski claimed that after media shops picked up on the story, she was labelled as being discriminatory which led to emotional misery. She filed a defamation lawsuit in response.
The board tried to have the case tossed out however that was rejected by the Courtroom of Attraction, that means the lawsuit can proceed.

When requested for touch upon the ruling, Burjoski, Piatkowski and the college board refused as a result of the matter is again earlier than the courts.
