Starting June 1, there will be lane restrictions on Highway 401 with daily maintenance work affecting westbound traffic between Leeds & Grenville and Odessa until June 4. Expect alternating lane closures from 7 a. m. to 6 p. m.
Additional work is scheduled along the 401 corridor between Belleville and Napanee. Daily engineering assessments and construction will limit eastbound traffic to one lane between Mitchell Road and the Deseronto Road and Beechwood Road interchanges from June 1 to June 5.
Nightly lane closures are set to continue on Highway 401 until June 12 at various spots around Odessa and Napanee, including near Camden East Road, Switzerville Road, and Wilton Road. One left lane will be closed in both directions during overnight construction hours.
In the Shannonville area, drivers might face nightly lane closures on the highway along with reduced speed limits as rehabilitation work is underway between Wyman Road and Shannonville Road. Delays of up to 10 minutes could occur.
Those using Highway 15 north of Kingston should also expect some slowdowns. Temporary traffic signals are active at the Canadian National Railway overhead structure north of Highway 401, while additional lane restrictions remain in effect near County Road 42. These projects may cause intermittent delays through at least June 5.
Inside Kingston city limits, several significant infrastructure initiatives are still impacting local roads.
Princess Street is undergoing reconstruction between Frontenac and Division streets as part of an extensive City of Kingston and Utilities Kingston infrastructure renewal project.
Improvements to storm sewers on Johnson Street from University Avenue to Aberdeen Street are expected to last until late July.
King Street West is reduced to one lane in each direction between Country Club Drive and Front Road while Utilities Kingston installs sanitary sewer lines and water mains.
Motorists should also anticipate delays on Taylor Kidd Boulevard and Collins Bay Road due to ongoing paving work, while upgrades at the intersection of Montreal Street and John Counter Boulevard are still taking place.
Several temporary road closures are planned for this week as well.
University Avenue will be closed between Johnson and Earl streets from June 1 to June 5 so contractors can remove underground services. Beginning June 3, John Street will be shut down between Montreal and Bagot streets until the end of July for water service upgrades.
Colborne Street remains closed from Barrie Street to Main Street until June 5 due to construction delays related to servicing issues.
Cranbrook Street continues its closure during school drop-off and pick-up times on weekdays as part of a School Street pilot program at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School.
Leo Lake Road will have intermittent daytime closures continuing until June 12 because of rock excavation efforts.
Reconstruction projects are also ongoing across Loyalist Township, South Frontenac, Lennox & Addington County, and Tay Valley Township.
In Loyalist Township, upgrades involving watermain replacement, sewer improvements, and road enhancements are taking place in Odessa along Main Street, Creighton Drive, Potter Drive, and South Street.
Drivers in South Frontenac should prepare for alternating traffic flow due to lane reductions at Bedford Mills Bridge on Perth Road through October while reconstruction projects proceed on Road 38 and Desert Lake Road.
