In a bright, welcoming clinical space in Kingston’s east end, a local radiologist is using her passion for women’s health screening to help more people access life-saving imaging services.

Dr. Doris Jabs bursts with enthusiasm as she conducts a tour of Breast Imaging Kingston, one of only a few dedicated clinics like it in Ontario that will soon provide every breast imaging and diagnostic procedure for women in Kingston under one roof.
At one end of the building, they are installing a brand new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine. Once it’s operational, every woman needing breast imaging in this area will be able to get mammograms, ultrasounds, and MRIs at this single clinic.
“It’s almost ready, but not quite,” Jabs said. “There is quite a waitlist still for breast imaging with MR, so that’s going to be the main focus.”
The Kingston Health Sciences Centre opened Breast Imaging Kingston in 2022 on John Marks Avenue off Highway 15 in the city’s east end.
“As soon as we have our MRI open then everything will be done at this site which is very unique in province,” Jabs said. “There’s no other one-stop shop so it’s really nice.”
