The Kingston Economic Development Corporation has been honored with two international awards for its efforts in supporting local businesses and enhancing Kingston’s economy. The organization snagged a Gold Award for its Succession Ontario program and a Silver Award for its Kingston Company Spotlight campaign from the International Economic Development Council. Succession Ontario received gold in the Business Retention and Expansion category. This provincial initiative, backed by $1.9 million from the Ontario government, assists small-business owners in planning their future. The program provides free online resources, planning tools, a business valuation tool, and personalized advisory support. It saw over 58,000 website interactions within its first five months. Kingston Company Spotlight earned silver in the Digital Media category. The 2025 campaign showcased local businesses on social media for 46 weeks straight. On Linked In, it generated more than 64,900 impressions and reached around 32,460 people. Succession Ontario is also among the 15 nominees for IEDC’s Best in Show Award, which will be revealed in October. Story by Alyssa Brush
