Two people have been hospitalized after a fire broke out in an East Hamilton residence July 4, 2026. (Jim Irons/CHCH News) The Hamilton Fire Department reports that two individuals suffered serious injuries in a fire this morning in the city’s east end. The incident occurred just after 11 a. m. on Cope Street. Fire crews arrived to find intense flames on the first floor that were spreading throughout the house. The fire was eventually brought under control. Two people who were located outside the home with serious but non-life-threatening injuries were taken to the hospital. Officials indicate that the fire has been deemed non-suspicious, but the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been alerted due to the injuries. They also noted that damage estimates are not available at this time.
